Valentines '19 Senior
We welcome you to this year's Valentine's Day Contest, Senior Division! Because the CCC is coming up, the Valentine's Day Contest will be in CCC format, with two divisions, with five problems each to solve in 3 hours, with a maximum of 50 submissions per problem. The window will open at 9AM EST on the 14th and will run until 9PM on the 16th.
Parameters for the contest:
- Contest duration: 3 hours.
- Number of problems: 5, full feedback, with subtasks.
- Rated for all participants who submit at least once.
- Scoreboard will be visible.
- Number of submissions allowed per problem: 50.
- Problem setters: , , .
- Testers: , , ,
The Junior and Senior divisions will not have overlapping problems, so you may participate in both.
Due to rampant issues with cheating on contests that has happened recently, any suspicious behavior during the contest window may result in your rating being impacted negatively. Such behavior includes, but is not limited to:
- Registering for the contest with at least two accounts.
- Participating in the contest with an account that is not your primary account.
- During the contest window, talking about the contest in more detail than answering a yes/no question about whether one participated in the contest. This includes, but is not limited to, posting spoilers about the contest and public speculation of the contest.
- Attempting to exploit bugs in the platform to subvert the constraints of the contest.
Punishments may include performance being unrated or, for more serious infractions, being forcibly ranked at the bottom of the scoreboard.
Before the contest date, you may wish to check out the tips and help pages.
The contest consists of 5 questions with a similar range of difficulty to the CCC Senior, and you can get partial marks for partial solutions in the form of subtasks. If you cannot solve a problem fully, we encourage you to go for these partial marks. It is highly recommended to read and attempt all of the problems. You will have 3 hours to complete the contest. After the contest window begins, you may begin at any time. Your personal timer will start counting down, and you will be able to submit until 3 hours from when you started, or until the hard deadline, whichever comes first.
After joining the contest, you proceed to the Problems tab to begin. You can also go to Users if you wish to see the rankings.
We have listed below some advice as well as contest strategies:
- Start from the beginning. Ties will be broken by the sum of times used to solve the problems starting from the beginning of the contest. The last submission time of your highest score will be used.
- Remove all extra debugging code and/or input prompts from your code before submitting. The judge is very strict — most of the time, it requires your output to match exactly.
- Do not pause program execution at the end. The judging process is automated. You should use stdin / stdout to perform
input
/output
, respectively. - It is guaranteed that all the problems will be solvable with C++.
At the end of the contest, you may comment below to appeal a judging verdict. In the case of appeals, the decision(s) of our staff is final.

How long does it take for one's DMOJ rating to be updated after the contest?
Once we are able to confirm (hopefully most, if not all) of the cheaters, the contest will be rated.

in that case, can I be ranked 1st please. This is a serious issue
Yes, DMOJ provides a pause. A pause to keep you from joining the contest...
Make sure you treat a contest like it's supposed to be treated please :notlikeblob:, in other words, you should be doing it in one sitting. :/
Ok
What does full feedback mean?
Full feedback means that your solution will be tested on all of the test data immediately when you submit. This is different from the pretest/systest format where you are only tested on a portion of the test data during the contest (called pretests), and all of it post-contest (called systests).
This is how DMOJ show love

Will this contest use the official CCC rules (no prewritten code, no internet consultation, etc...)?
With regards to prewritten code, no internet consultation, etc. it is up to you to follow those rules if you wish to participate in a CCC-like setting. The only rules that we will be checking post-contest are listed in the contest description.
