Arcadia Computing Contest 2

AHSCC2 Banner

Welcome to the second edition of the Arcadia Computing Contest!

There will be 6 problems, each weighted equally and arranged in approximate order from easiest to hardest.

This contest was made possible thanks to our contest organizer, Riolku!

The problem setter is kevlu8.

Special thanks to htoshiro, Ivan_Li, Sam629566, sugo, sireButItsUnique, RandomLB, thomas_li, wdotmathree, SirTechnical, Snowfall, weewoo14, and blank2003 for testing and feedback on the problems.

This round will be rated for all participants with a rating under 1900.

The contest will run from March 19, 18:15 EDT to March 27, 00:00 EDT.

You will have 2 hours to complete the contest. After the contest window begins, you may begin at any time. Once you enter the contest, your personal timer will start counting down and you will be able to submit until 2 hours from when you started, or until the hard deadline (00:00 EDT of March 27), whichever comes first.

Here are the parameters of the contest:

  • Contest duration: 2 hours.
  • Number of problems: 6, full feedback (you will see the results of your submissions instantly).
  • Scoreboard will be hidden, until your window is over. Divulging the contents of the scoreboard to participants who have not finished their window is an offense, the punishments of which are listed below.
  • Ties will be broken by the maximum submission time that increased score with no penalties.
  • Each problem will be worth 100 marks, and may have partial marks in the form of subtasks.
  • Rated for opening the contest. Being able to read the problems will cause the contest to be rated.
  • Checkers for problems: standard, unless otherwise specified.
  • This contest is rated for all participants with a rating under 1900.
  • It is guaranteed that all problems will be solvable with Python, Java, and C++.

Clarification requests for the contest must be routed through the clarification system provided on DMOJ, and not through other channels including but not limited to Discord and Slack. Furthermore, all clarification requests will be handled the way they normally are in IOI. Note that, in particular, clarification requests must come in the form of yes/no questions.

Due to the recent increase in the power of AI, all AI usage is banned. This includes, but is not limited to, ChatGPT and Copilot.

Due to rampant issues with cheating on contests that has happened recently, any suspicious behavior during the contest window may result in your rating being impacted negatively. Such behavior includes, but is not limited to:

  • Divulging the contents of the scoreboard to participants who have not finished their window.
  • Registering for the contest with at least two accounts.
  • Participating in the contest with an account that is not your primary account.
  • During the contest window, talking about the contest in more detail than answering a yes/no question about whether one participated in the contest. This includes, but is not limited to, posting spoilers about the contest and public speculation of the contest.
  • Attempting to exploit bugs in the platform to subvert the constraints of the contest.
  • Attacking the judge infrastructure, other contestants, or contest personnel within or after your window.

Punishments may include performance being unrated or, for more serious infractions, being forcibly ranked at the bottom of the scoreboard.

At the end of the contest, you may comment below to appeal a judging verdict. In the case of appeals, the decision(s) of DMOJ staff is final.

Preliminary ratings have been releaed. Note that these are not yet final and are subject to change depending on some parameter tuning for the new rating algorithm (and possibly MOSS results). An announcement will be made once ratings have been finalized.

You may have noticed that even if you did not participate in the contest that your rating has changed: this is due to the rating system update, and an annoucement will be made once we have finalized the algorithm.

Finally, if you wish to either contest being rated / unrated, either because you believe you have been incorrectly flagged for cheating (-9999) or because you were affected by issues on P4 / P6 and joined the contest prior to Friday March 21st 13:10 EDT, please reach out to the contest organizers, either via the official DMOJ Discord or other means; they will in turn forward these requests to the DMOJ staff who will make the final decision.

Note that in the rare case where you have been flagged for cheating and have been affected by the issues with P4 / P6, your disqualification will take precidence over any issues caused by the problems.

As usual, in the case of appeals, the decision(s) of DMOJ staff is final.
